This is a great way to read this story, as well as provide a new way for others who already know the title. If you only know the Hollywood version of War of the Worlds, then you don't know the real story.
War of the worlds is a highly beloved sci-fi classic, and here it is beautifully illustrated along with some history, interviews and pieces of concept art. I've never been particularly big on this HG Wells classic, but I appreciated it enough to give this wonderfully made book a purchase. It arrived within 2 days and was packaged incredibly well. I'd say this was well worth the asking price. If you love all things HG Wells, or just war of the worlds, this is a high recommendation. Bitmap books never fails to create a high quality product.
I ordered this on a whim as I wanted to see what it was like. I didn’t expect such quick delivery, which was a really nice surprise. The book is a really well made item worthy of a collectors piece and, as such, my copy remains in the cellophane on my shelf of collectors items. I might actually buy another book sometime.
An excellent edition of Well's classic The War of the Worlds. Well presented, lushly illustrated, and full of extras: an intro by Adam Roberts, a vice-chair of the H.G. Wells Society, and much info generally about the author and the various media interpretations of the story: Orson Welles' acclaimed radio dramatisation, Jeff Wayne's musical album and live shows, and Hollywood's attempts at transfer to the big screen.
