SEGA® Master System: a visual compendiumBUY NOW - TRACKED GLOBAL SHIPPING
The Master System was originally released as the SEGA Mark III in Japan in 1985, and was a direct competitor to Nintendo's Famicom home console. The library of games on the Master System is modest in volume, but packed full of quality and home to some of video gaming's most iconic franchises, such as Alex Kidd, Fantasy Zone, Shinobi and Phantasy Star.
SEGA® Master System: a visual compendium pays tribute to the amazing pixel art, product design and graphic design associated with this seminal 8-bit system. The book is officially licensed by SEGA and is the first of its kind to be released for the Master System.
Around 200 games are covered, with the main focus on their visuals, as the title suggests, accompanied by related soundbites, anecdotes and memories. Within SEGA® Master System: a visual compendium you’ll also find a series of larger features and interviews with developers and artists, ensuring a great mix of visuals and words in its 424 pages. The foreword is written by Mark Cerny (Sony) and there are interviews with Mutsuhiro Fujii, Takashi Shoji, Steve Hanawa, Rieko Kodama, and others.
SEGA® Master System: a visual compendium is printed lithographically to the highest standards. This ensures that colours in the book are really vibrant and that the pages have a high-quality, luxurious feel to them. The book has a spot varnished cover, a spot varnished protective dust jacket and thread sewn binding. Every book also includes an animated-effect lenticular heavy board slipcase and comes with a set of 3D Glasses!

- Master System
Excellent book. Really well presented, right down to the packaging. Looks great and the high quality paper really brings out the game images and brings back the memories. Well written too. Looking forward to checking out the Commodore books too.
An excellent title, full of nostalgia. Many memories of gaming in the 80s and 90s. Delivery was prompt and the overall package was very nicely packed. I’m looking forward to getting some other books from the publisher.
This book is very well done and all inclusive of the Master System itself and its peripherals. The added 3D pages which can be viewed using the supplied paper 3D glasses add a cool, unique, and very creative factor to the book itself. My only complaint would be the book doesn’t have the box cover of the games. While the box covers contained very simplistic artwork along with the “graph paper” background which Master System games were known for, many of us grew up in that era where the internet and gaming magazines didn’t exist, so for us, the covers are what we remember the most and our first introduction to the games themselves. Aside from this minor detail, this book is the perfect book for any fan of the Sega Master System. It is the most comprehensive book, with well written articles, and very informative interviews with the key players that made this the system many of us grew up with. Get this book!
Great artwork and texts in the book.
